ADDING BED LUBRICATION

Has anyone modificed a bench mill for any type of way/bed lubrication.
My WT ZX45 has no cups or oil port for the table - I don't think occasional
lubrication on the exposed portiion o the dovetail is sufficient - ANY THOUGHTS OUT THERE?

Hi, Here is a link to some mods I did on my zx7045 for lubrication and other stuff like polymer concrete fill in the base. Im working on the cnc conversion now and making a small pump to supply lube through poly tubing to the legris lube fittings. If you have any questions about it ask them in this thread since the other one is now in the IH marketing forum.

Davo, how is the mill working out for you? Are you getting to use it, or still waiting on the CNC mostly?

Best,

BW

Hey BW, I have just done a few little things with my mill. In the last month I have got back to collecting the stuff for the cnc conversion. I have a set of MCG 1100 oz peak servos, US digital E6S 200cpr encoders, G320 servodrives. A 72 volt 20 amp Antek powersupply. Also shown is a THK precision ground ballscrew for my Z axis and barden L25062HDF1000 high preload angular contact bearings. I am waiting on UPS to bring the Y and X ballscrews I just bought, they are also ground units. The Y looks just like the Z and the X ballscrew is a double preloaded unit. They are all new industrial surplus- only reason I could afford them. Also waiting on a C and CNC breakout board and a bunch of wiring plugs so I can start wiring up the 24 in by 8 in deep enclosure with the PS and geckos and stuff. And yes that ballscrew is big but it fits inside the column no problem. I am finalizing the designs for the ballnut connection to the Z slide and the Z servo and upper ballscrew bearing mount on top of the column. I will do a thread soon on my build up and stop hijacking What you been doing Bob? U can PM me if you want. Dave
