Yikes, that would be the bench shaking!

It's the stand, These were shot whilst it was on it's show transport stand C/W castors.
Rapids on this are about 120 in / min so it does throw itself round a bit.

What type of cutter were you using for the herringbone and helical gears.

Phil,
Actually it was a bit of a bodge as it's a straight sided rack cutter off another job. It was done more to test the software program than to generate a correct gear.
I have since ground up some D bits with the correct involute but as yet haven't cut any more gears, maybe next week as I have a machine to test.

Thanks for the feedback.

Have you considered to use the mill to produce the involute, with the blank in the spindle and a single point lathe tool in a vise on the table.

Also it seems to me there are a whole range of possibilities to produce gear cutters using a CNC mill, especially with a 4th axis.
