Zip's first CnC...SpectraLight

Well I had originally planned to build a cnc machine and still plan to do so. But I couldn't pass up a chance to get a cnc machine for $320. It,s a Spectralight 0200(Sherline Mill). Purchased it from a Gov. auction and found out that it was set up for one day at a school and then they cancelled the cnc program the next day and it sat in storage for years. I,ve cut some test cuts out on some delrin and it cuts pretty good. Every once in awhile it will skip steps when returning to the home position but other than that it runs great. Those Sherline mills sure are cute !!!

Nice find. It could make a great down payment toward the system you plan on building - IF you can give it up.

Oh man, lucky you. Thats awesome...! I think over the years my school will provide some cool resources and never know what I could get as a student

Yeah I just might keep it. Its so small and cute. Fits nice in the office. I still plan to build a gantry style cnc router but it will be down the road abit. Yep gotta keep your eyes and ears open for those county auctions!!
