I've just recieved my 2.5hp treadmill motor and 130vdc motor control from surplus center of Lincoln NB. The motor has a thermal shut down mechanism in it. The system trips at 100 degrees opening the circuit (in-line component). I want to incorperate this into my controller. My question is do I put the shut down mechanism on the AC or the DC side? does it make a difference? thanks for any help Mike |

| Usually these devices are not used to interrupt motor power directly, but to indicate to the controlling device, drive enable , e-stop circuit etc, which in turn shut the main power off. Al.

| I've got the 11-2449 controller from the same site. I'll be interested to see how you attach your motor, and the fan. I think this is gonna be a common issue with these machines. We should both post pics! Also, think we'll feel the extra HP? |

I just got my new motor/controller combination working again. As I see it, the key to getting this thing working properly again, after attaining the new components from SurplusCenter.com is getting a new 5K Potentiometer from Radioshack and then getting replacement fuses. Mine now works beautifully, all I have to do is connect the motor to my mill and I'm good. The important part is that this conversion works. So buying expensive replacements from LMS, ($275.00 + shipping for a new motor and circuit board compared to $40.00 at SC) will no longer be necessary. Now what about that fan? |
