Hi- Looking for a machine that can do at least 19" x at least 6" wanting to do engrving and cutouts in 3mm aluminim standard size rack panels (19") for my electroncs projects. Searching around, These two stuck out: Seig x3.. Nice price, lots of conversion kits, table too small, Can the table be made operate on a larger X axis? and Grizzly G1006. http://www.grizzly.com/products/G1006 Heavy, bigger unit, no conversion kits.. I really dont want to engineer parts to make a conversion kit myself, so I was hoping somthing is available. Budget 3K Regards ~B |

| I've used the Tormach PCNC 1100 to make instrument cutouts in standard 19" rack panels. The mill is limited to 18" travel in X, or maybe a little more with some limit switch adjustment, but my cutouts all fit within that work envelope. You lose about 1/2" on the side edges of the panel for the screw slots so the max available X length needed is right around 18" anyway. The bezel for the stuff I was insatlling in the cutouts also cut the available X length a bit, too. Y travel on that mill is around 9-1/2". Mike |

| Is there a US dealer for the vario bf20 unit? Googling renders nothing. Also: Can I buy a larger table with ball screws and just add onto a smaller, cheaper mill like one of the x series? I'm only going to use this for engraving and small cutouts in 3mm aluminum. Sorry for the redundednt questions I'm asking. This is all confusing to me as diffrent resellers offer the same product from the same manufactuer under diffrent model numbers for diffrent prices. I really just want a plug and play system, or a time tried DIY method. ~B |

| the mill i have is pretty similar to a bf20 but is not exactly a bf20 but yes there is a dealer that sells the bf20 in the state under the name bf200 not 20 and i am certain they can get the L table as an option or aftermarket part here you go link http://www.penntoolco.com/catalog/pr...ategoryID=6692 7" x 20" Table-Dovetail column Work head can swivel ±45º. All dials and scales are .001" graduations. The head has a 2-speed gearbox for increased torque. It is powered by a electronic variable-speed-controlled motor. All slides Utilize dovetail construction for maximum rigidity. The table is hardened and ground . | all of these options seem a bit overkill for what I want to do. Maybe I need a CNC router to get the surface area I want. I'm only going to be engraving/cutting holes in 3mm aluminum. Most of the inexpensive CNC router table use a dremel (bla) and I think I would kill it pretty fast. (I have already burned up two in my life!) What's out there? |

no problem i remembered that someone had posted about it a few month ago anyway most of those machine have about the same spec like mine with slight variation in the motor power as for them mt2 cone some will argue that you wont be able to insert as big of a end mill in as a r8 but i think that using any end mill over 1/2" in those machine is a bit over kill, the only problem is that your tooling wont be upgradable to a bigger machine in the optic that you plan on upgrading to a BP knee mill type eventualy, but most hobbyist and even for prototype work the tooling available for these type of cone is good |
