The Cross Slide Modification is a continuation of the work depicted on pages 4, 7 & 8 of this thread. Both of the Timing Belt pulleys needed some modification before they could be installed. The Lead Screw pulley had to be reamed from the stock .375 Dia. to 10 MM.The Motor pulley had to be drilled and tapped #8-32 in the cog area because the motor shaft was to short for this particular configuration. all the parts were then collected for assembly. |

| Rod M: Thanks for visiting this thread. I learn a lot from your builds! Continuing the Assembly of the “ULTRA” Cross Slide. AS illustrated earlier, this Design utilizes Linear Rails on both the X and Y axis'. However; The Lead Screws, Nuts and associated Hardware for the X axis are common to both the Ultra and Standard Models. (Standard Model uses the stock Dovetail Slides) The Y axis Kit is also common to both Models as are the base modifications which support the Y axis lead screw & bearings. A flat CRS Plate is used on the ULTRA model in place of the saddle which is supplied on the Standard Unit. W. Smith Mission Viejo, CA. |

Assembly and critical evaluation of the 3 Bridge Mill prototypes has resumed. Efforts to decrease the profile of the all steel Z axis will result in increased travel of the Y axis and overall simplification and reduced machining time of Z axis parts. The redesign will be based on concepts which were used on the Aluminum Router Z axis. W. Smith, Mission Viejo, CA |

Z axis Modification; the first two 1018 parts are in work. The Drawings were updated and are enclosed. Next the Z mod. Mounting Plate & Z mod. Mounting Block will be machined.& the drawings posted. Wizard: so many interests ….so little time....I'm off on a detour again! We recently purchased an H1 Hardware kit & an extra “Steve's Extruder from SeeMeCNC.com It is a very nice Tinker Toy style Machine. Lots of fine injection molded parts, threaded rods and nuts & bolts galore. Operating the H1 should give us a good baseline for a process which is relatively new to us. After that we will proceed on a sturdy Aluminum Bridge configured “3D Printer Design.” for the present we will continue working on our current projects. W. Smith Mission Viejo, CA |
