    Ball screws

    Hello,

which setup will give me more torque?

Ballscrew with 2mm pitch and direct drive or ballscrew with 4mm ptch and beltgear ratio 1:2 ?
    Both same steppermotor.

Simple mechanics says they are the same. However the direct route is invariably the more efficient.

True, but only if you disregard stepper harmonics.

hmmm interesting, the motor would still be turning the same rpm to make the same travel... but one benifit of the belt setup is that in the future if you wanted to change the drive ratio, you would have that option...
