Hi all, I am trying to remove the power unit from the back of the Z column of my X2 mill. But after loosening all the screws, I notice there are 3 wires screwed to the column itself connected to the power unit. Any idea what the wires are for? I am in the process of fabricating a bracket to convert my Z column but I am not sure if I can unscrew the wires. Thanks. Alex |

I think they are the grounding wires. usually when wires are connected directly to a machine they are to prevent electricution if something buggers up in the electronics. you wont do any harm un screwing them but make sure you reattach them, then double and tripple cheack or it might be your last move. try searching "electrcial grounding" on google to get a better understanding. | Hi Mike, Thanks for the info. I will definitely hook them back up when I installed the Z axis stepper motor support. Its only the temporary part of unscrewing them that scares me. I thought normally there is only one ground wire, not three. Alex |
