    CNC Fusion

    Hi

I was looking at the CNC Fusion kit for the X1.

There seems to be a small pinch collar use to hold the thrust bearings. How can you preload this? Is preloading necessary?

Those of you who have used this kit on an X1, what are your opinions of it and the preloading method?

    Thanks

I have this kit on my X-1 and I'm very happy with it. It was a doddle to fit and is very well made. I do have quite a lot of backlash on my setup, which I've always assumed was down to the screws, but I suppose sloppy thrust bearings would produce the same effect. As far as I can remember, I just followed the instructions and pushed the locking collars on until they were tightly against the thrust bearings, and then tightened the setscrews.

Hmm, you've got me worrying that I've not preloaded my thrust bearings - I might have to remove my X and Y axes and see if the srews have any axial slop!
