Hi, I learned that Sieg X* serials have been very popular for CNC conversion. However, I find this one http://www.chesteruk.myzen.co.uk/sto...speed_mill.htm This mill claims "high precision taper roller bearing", does it help much? It's head can be rotated, maybe just like the Super X3. A drawback is that it has MT2 spindle instead of a preferred R8. I'm think it might also have other brand name. As a newbie to the CNC conversion, I wondered how difficult to convert this mill to a CNC mill? Cheers David |

| That looks *very* similar to my XJ-95 conversion from KDNTool... See: http://jeffalbro.net/cnc/xj-95/ For my review. If you are doing parts where you need to change the cutter, and your time is worth something to you, stay away and stick with an R8, or at least an MT3. I'd suggest getting a pre-made CNC machine. It's very hard to beat Syil's price/performance. -Jeff |

I really like Syil's product and it's still on top of my list. Howerver, as I'm in UK, I need to import it from China, and at the moment, I'm still wait for a quote from my forwarder regarding the import cost, including the freight, insurance, customs duty, and etc. |

Anyway, that machine looks a lot like this BMD-20 that rhonmac seem to do a CNC conversion for: http://www.rhonmac-cnc.co.uk/milling...ing%20machines and Wales is a little closer than China |

| FYI, I got a reply from their sales regarding this mill http://www.chesteruk.myzen.co.uk/sto...speed_mill.htm "The tolerance for the champion 20VS is as follows: Run out of spindle hole centre line. - 0.008mm at spindle nose. 0.015mmat a distance of 100mm These are tolerances, and every machine will have its own test certificate." Looks pretty good! |
