I am working on converting a Square Column Mill to CNC and have been trying to decide on what type of Stand/Cabinet to build for my Mill. I will be using a Coolant System and really like the idea of a full cabinet with a sliding front door similar to the Haas Mini Mill setup. Other than the work involved with building a full Cabinet, I can't think of a better way of keeping the mess contain. I have also been looking at the Deluxe Tormach Stand Setup that uses a secondary Table Splash Shield setup with a removable acrylic splash shield and wonder how well this setup works at containing the chips and coolant? Would be interested in hearing from anyone who is using the Tormach Deluxe Stand and their thoughts on this setup. Thanks for your help. Willyb |

| Me I'm just building an enclosure for the mill, this will sit atop any table/stand. Depends on the size of your mill of course, what mill are you working with? The enclosure is designed to somewhat contain noise and of course fully contain the coolant http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showth...t=26886&page=3 |

| Wiilyb, The Tormach base is pretty good, but I've heard that the splash shield(s) may be a little low, especially for agressive cuts with no flood coolant. It's easy enough to build them up higher, though. You might post to the Tormach section here or to the Yahoo Tormach group to get direct feedback. My Tormach is finally set up and in the next week or so I may be able to comment with actual experience. The wife insists that the mess from installation be cleaned up first and since she helped move it to the basement, she's owed at least that much. Mike Mike |

| I am amazed by how little splash protection the Tormach table has - it also looks like everything you wanted to use would have to fit on the table - i.e. you couldn't have a vice protruding from the front of the table. I have built a mostly enclosed table, and my next step will be to produce a fully enclosed one, both for sound deadening and to catch those splashes of coolant which seem to have ricoched their way round all the other splash guards! I also seem to lose a lot of coolant by evaporation - hopefully a full enclosure will help, though I am worried about how to properly cool my mill and all its electronics. |
