Grizzly to sell the Super X3

I just got an email from Ma Jian at Sieg Industries. They have indicated that they have struck a deal with Grizzly to sell the Super X3. Grizzly has already placed a large order and we should see them for sale by the beginning of the new calendar year. Finally !!

HF would only sell if it were a giant piece of crap

Sorry, but that just about mad me spit Pepsi all over my monitor. I must say that is the most honest and definitive way to sum up HF.

On another note this is fantastic news. I've been sitting waiting to have the cash for the X3 and recently have been on the brink of making the purchase just waiting for the right time to remodel the 'shop'.

So glad I waited, honestly I won't use the quill ever so there goes the fine feed, taping fuction, and readout, but hey... I get a tach, touchpanel controls, and a better designed head casting with more power. YAY! Get all giddy like a little kid thinking about it.

I have read from a few people that the sx3 has some serious issues not shared with the x3. Hopefully they have been fixed.

Yeah, the old problem with the speed controller? I'm also curious.

Another thing that I've been wondering is if there is a schematic of the touch panel and the controller floating around. Not a wiring diagram but I'm actually curious in how it's built.

anybody have any idea if or when Grizzly will sell the super x-3. I want one. I really don't even know what makes is super compared to the x-3. But since the marketing people call it super, I want one. Someone enlighten me please.

It had motor controller problems which I think have now all been fixed.

I think I read about it on the x series mill group-

I bought a Super X3 here in Holland at half the listing price because the seller stated that the power board was toast.
A second power board also malfunctioned, hence the 50 percent reduction.
I have both boards, a board controls the 3-phase 230 Volt spindle motor.
Did anyone have a dead SX3?
How did you get it repaired?

If you are set on the bench tops, wait and don't buy anything else! I got my Grizzly G0619! I am glad I waited.

Research paid off and I got in on the first order. My machine was superb right out of the crate, but even better, The manual is excellent. I am big on electrical, and the diagram with detailed photos of all electrical including circuit boards surprised me. So many companies just shove a cheap scanned copy of plans and superficial sales documentation in the box for customer support. That needs to change. By going the extra mile with their documentation, I think that Grizzly is in for the long haul. This manual even links to a color electrical diagram and photos at the big Griz at: http://images.grizzly.com/grizzlycom...ls/g0619_m.pdf

I am a skeptic in my field, and I tested the diagram, and it is nails-ON with the mill/drill. The rest of the manual answered all of my questions well.

VALUE: Excellent product. This machine was a great surprise for me and my needs. With the R8 spindle, better HP smooth cogged belt drive, wayed column for no registration loss, smooth X, Y, Z control, it exceeds my project needs for just over $1300 bucks. I can’t wait to get the power feed, left-hand drill bits, and a 2” face mill.

However, rent an engine hoist to get it up on your bench.

Rent a cherry picker with nylon straps--NOT CHAINS. This critter was heavy!!!

    SX3 now working

As I stated in a previous mail, my new SX3 was not working.

It turned out that the cable between the Power Board and the Control Board had a severed ground wire. Life got back into the Mill.
But no Forward / Reverse switching. Another faulty contact in the same cable.

Now I have some spare parts as well.
