X1 Belt Drive?

Does anyone know of any plans out there for the X1 to convert to belt drive? I can find several for the X2 but none for the X1. Does anyone at least know the pulley diameters to use? I'm not really interested in high speed right now but would like to make this conversion BEFORE I need to replace gears.

Thanks

Has anyone actually bought one of these conversions and installed it.
I don't get any answer to questions sent to their web site.

I have one of the conversions - works great, looks good. Unfortunately the two people T and J split up . Email me and I will ask if the T part is willing to build some more of them

Ah, that could explain a few things. I actually paid for one last October (2006) and I'm still waiting for John to write back, let alone deliver a kit :-(

It sounds like his situation hasn't been good, but I'd like to find some nice way of asking for either the kit to show up or my money back.

I finally received a kit but only after talking to him on the phone several times.
It seems he had a large backlog and only limited time to work on them.

I was getting ready to just figure out my own because I need it. I've not broken any gears but I'm wearing out my second set now and they get hellishly noisy on deep cuts when they're worn. It's not complicated (pulleys, a slab, standoffs, belt, new spindle bearings), but getting details wrong on the first try would waste time and money, so if John could give me a working conversion for $120 and no effort on my part that seemed like a great deal. Sounds like demand is high enough he should be charging a little more. Or selling franchise rights.

Anyway, I tried writing again and he wrote back today; he hopes to have mine done soon. I hope so! I'll let folks know when it arrives, maybe he's getting out from under his backlog. If I don't have it by the one year anniversary of ordering, I'll just make my own and post a parts list and plans. I wasn't scared of boring out seats for thrust bearings, I don't see why I should be scared of making a belt drive.

[I'd not have minded nearly as much when I ordered if he'd said "I'm swamped. It'll be months until I get to it" because a year later I still need it as much as I did before. It's the 'doesn't answer any emails for six months' that kind of got to me.]

Nice log Andy, I'll keep any eye on it and maybe borrow some ideas on my X1. You planning on using the stock motor on your belt drive?
Big fan of your airborn work as well.

Mayby I should have worded it differently as I wish I could take credit but I was only trying to point others in this guy's direction as he seems to be doing an excellent job with the X1.
