| Because they're not giving true absolute position of the crossslide, backlash in the leadscrew nut will affect the accuracy of the measurement it gives. Personally, I'd prefer even the cheap little absolute scales, which will always perform to their own limits of accuracy regardless of how awful crossslide movement is! |
