Try googling "table top mill CNC retrofit".

Do the same on this site via search tool.

You should see loads of them.

kits

CNC Fusion makes a good ballscrew hardware kit, very nice!

For electronics

US Guns:

Look at JL123's thread. He is converting a X3 using CNCfussion's X3 kit. Let me point out the X3 basic facts concerning what cncfussion's approach for supplying a cnc hardware kit. This approach may be acceptable to you, and to others and I'm not wanting to discredit ot speak poorly about someone's product, but you should understand the design methodology.

The kit for the X3 is designed to use the stock thrust bearings instead of supplying machined bearing blocks equipped with dual angular bearings.

JL123's kit did not provide reloaded ballnuts and what we found out was that CNCfusion stated that the backlash of the ballnuts could be as great as .015 in. according to the manufacturer, NOOK. (JL123 had .011 backlash)

In order to adapt to the existing bearings, with the 5/8 inch ballscrew, the end of the ballscrew was turned down to 12mm(the ID of the existing bearings), and by doing so, the shoulder of the ballscrew that will mate with the bearing is a very small contact surface.

The end of the ballscrew was not threaded, and a clamping collet was used to secure the ballscrew to the bearing assembly. It made it challenging to achieve the correct reload on the thrust bearings.

But, like I say, this approach was for the X3, and we have not seen the their approach for the larger bench top mills.

If you want to see a good example of a CNC kit for a similar mill to yours go the the industrial Hobbies webpage(they have a link from the cnczone under the advertisers list) and they even show how to install their kit in detail. Your mill is a round column while their kit are for square column mills, but it will show and explain similar cnc objectives.

Hope this helps,

Ron
