Lowdown on the XJ-9510: The one shown on my site is from Penn Tool. The specs I list about it are the actual measured (by me) specifications. I advised Penn Tool to update thier records and they probably have not done it yet. The drawbar supplied with the machine has metric threads and does not work with Penn's MT2 collet set. I have manufactured a new drawbar with 3/8-16 thread. I will include this with my CNC mills. A few observations: This machine is hands down superior to the Sieg X2 starting with the overall design. I would like to see an R-8 spindle, but that would not work due to quill DIA and spindle bearing size. It would have to stick out too far as the X2 R-8 spindle nose does. The machine arrived with scraped ways and has tapered gibs on all axes. It includes a test report as well.(for what its worth) I have contacted Penn Tool about the high speed spindle mount shown in the instructions. Have not heard back yet though. If you have more questions I would be happy to answer them. My CNC conversion is finished and kits will be available soon as will complete machines built to order. Ken KDN Tool

Hi Ken, This looks like a really nice mill for $500. I'm assuming since the ways are scraped, all the dovetails are steel/cast iron. Is there any critical parts of the mill that you think are substandard and would either break or wear prematurely? Is the spindle belt driven or geared? I have a cnc'd X1 but there is head spindle vibration when cutting metal. How does the XJ mill perform? For comparison sake, I also own a X3. I'm thinking of selling the X1 and getting a XJ to replace it. Post some pictures of your cnc conversion if possible. Regards, Jim

The mill is nice for the price. The spindle drive motor looks like one of the "electric scooter" motors. The spindle spins smoothly due to the fine pitch gears it is driven by. Once I finish "pretty'ing" up the conversion I will post some pics. Ken
