I have a NEMA34 hanging off mine, and have a little concern, but not too much. My opinion is that by the time I wear out the mill, I'll be doing well enough to buy replacement castings, gibs, etc...

You COULD counterweight it, but I don't think it'd provide any real advantage.
Basically, the only concerns if you DO counterweight it (by adding weight to the opposite end of the table) would be acceleration and increased load on the dovetails / gibs- I wouldn't worry that much about load on the dovetails or gibs, it'd be an even load versus an "off" load such as having a motor hanging off the end of the table.
I haven't counterweighted mine, and I probably won't- I just don't think it's necessary at this point. Depending on where on the table you do most of your machining, you could end up using the motor to counterweight the table (with the table to the far left). I might change my mind, and reserve the right to do so...
BUT, If I had a double-stack NEMA 34 (why on EARTH would you put one of THOSE on an X2!?!?!

), I think I'd counterweight it somehow.
