    Sieg FC350SMD

Has anyone come up with a schematic for the newer Sieg FC350SMD (surface mount) DC motor control board?

    Thanks,

    Pete C.

    Question

    Bump.
    Mine just failed.
Fairly certain its the primary of the transformer but a schematic would certainly help.
    Anyone found one?
Anyone know of an alternative controller for the existing motor of a 220v X2 mill

I bought my X2 in 2006, but the FETs on the DC motor control are from 1995 and 1988. Off to look for data sheets.

I looked for a schematic a while ago, when mine failed. I talked to a Sieg rep who wouldn't release a drawing to me under any circumstance. I then replaced my mainboard with this one. http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.as...tname=electric It works just fine.

    dang,

Thanks for the link! I will use it when I give up on trying to repair the board. At this point I'm selecting new N-channel power MOSFETS from International Rectifier. I'm not sure which is more important, power dissipation or Vds.

IR doesn't make 500V and 600V MOSFETS anymore. I'm probably dealing with a poor circuit design anyway (my first clue was the early failure).

Here's a link to the schematic of the thru hole FC350 http://anivo.com/reed/G8689_cont/g8689_cont.htm The surface mount version is the same circuit with surface mount components and the pwm geneartor on the main board rather than on a daughterboard. In the UK you can get the KB electronics controllers used by Real Bull and Weiss from amadeal. Much more reliable than the Sieg controllers and give more torque at low rpm.

When I tried to get mine repaired, I was told by a grand champ solderer that the board wasn't even completely soldered up. Quality at it's best.

Good luck fixing it. I think we should build a public schematic for future generations to ponder. Until then, for most of us, http://www.hossmachine.info has a nice walk thru on replacing the board.

Hey guys, I have a board left over from my recent conversion on my x3 for sale. 20 - 30 dollars will take it and another 30 for the motor.
