    G0704 Grinding or rubbing sound when Quill at lowest point.

    Hey Folks;

    I get a grinding or rubbing sound when Quill is at lowest point. I can feel it in the Quill handle when I drill. Its not super bad , but would like to know whats up. The machine runs great with Quill up. Quill travel fells smooth. I did not tear down head, but did pull Motor off. Made sure gears looked ok / grease when I first got the machine.

    P.S. I did buy Hoss's DVD, Great stuff, Thanks Hoss....

    Thanks Mitch ........

    Could be a number of things like an out of place quill retaining clip rubbing the quill wall from the increased spring pressure when it goes down.
    Watch the beginning of this video if you want to see how to take the spindle assembly apart.
