    G73 on a MaxNC 10CL

I have been trying to get my 10CL to execute a G73 without success. It's been a few years since I had CNC classes, and I can't find any notes on this command. I've specified Z both as positive and negative numbers, tried different figures for Q, specified R just above the workpiece and also didn't specify R at all. When I issue the G73 command, along with the M3, the spindle starts, nothing seems to happen, then I get the prompt to enter the next command.

The manual that came with the machine lists G73 as a supported command, but doesn't offer any examples. Any help?

What do the folks at MaxNC (now ximotion.com) say about it? Have you asked?

If you can't get G73 to work, try G83 (peck drill cycle). If you're using the MaxNC software, you might find that some of the more obscure g-codes like this aren't well implemented. Many MaxNC users have switched over to Mach3, which is more robust, works on more modern computers, and is better supported.

    Thank you for the reply

Thank you for the reply. No, I didn't get in touch with Max on this. I'm disgusted with MaxNC/Ximotion. I bought the machine, an EC model, dealing with their representative Chris. I was told that they had a problem with the old EC unit and were waiting for a shipment of new units. They would build and ship the machine without the unit, and ship the EC in a few weeks. They billed my CC for the full amount. I went months before receiving the machine, and it didn't have the EC unit. It had some black parts and some blue; they were obviously trying to scrounge up parts to complete the order. The machine didn't work, and Chris tried sending replacement parts, finally asking me to return it, at which time he fixed it and returned it. They stalled me for many more months with excuses for the EC unit, and then their phone was disconnected.

When Ximotion started advertising the machines again, I spoke with Otto, who asked me to forward copies of all emails. During the conversation, he said that there were never any problems with the EC unit, and that Chris (no longer in business) had been stalling. I did, and he didn't respond. I called again, spoke with Betty, and she asked me to send the same files to her. She didn't respond. When I called back later, she said that they considered sending an EC unit (again, I'd already paid for it when I placed the order), but it was too expensive.

I reported their company to BBB, and never heard anything back. At this point, there's probably no good reason to ask them anything. I regret doing any business with them, and wish I'd gone with the Towne Labs I'd considered.

I'll try the G83 to see if it's part of the instruction set. Thank you, again.

ohhh man I am sorry to hear this.... Seems to be the way this company works. Some things never change, I got my maxnc some 10 years ago and it never worked. Went with a g540 and mach and then extensive mods to get the machine square.

Its just a hunk of junk (sorry but its true) Took me a good 5 years to get it to produce the types of parts they promised out of the box. Not to mention more money the the machine cost. but hey, on the bright side, I learned alot and will not hesitate to tell everyone and anyone to stay the *@!! away from that company. They are nothing but crooks!
