    G0704 or BF20L

G0704 is $1100 plus $100 shipping. Not sure about the extra shipping cost to canada.
Machine Tools Warehouse (in Canada) is 1 hour from me. They got BF20L $1250.
So price is about same for me to my door. And the specs are almost same.
I am going to use it for aluminum.
Accuracy maybe more important than rigidity in my case.
Any advice will get me closer to putting my money down.
    Thanks

99% the same machine. with you being in canada im sure the price of the g0704 would be more than the bf20 that you could pick up.

id say the easier solution would be to go with the bf20. that is of course based on availability between the two and how long you are willing to wait if necessary

Are you saying they are made by the same manufacturer, or you are just saying 0704 is BF20L's clone?

The only thing I would have against the BF20L is the MT2 spindle.
If you ever have thoughts of running TTS tooling, you won't be able to with MT2.
That's a pretty small taper for a machine like this if you ask me, they should have at least used MT3.
    The G0704 is R8.

What is the maximum tool diameter MT2 can take?
Can MTW just change it to MT3, or it is part of the "head"?
    Thanks Hoss

MT2 collets go to 1/2 inch, TTS tools have 3/4 shanks.
They don't offer any other options on the page like they do with their other mills so I'd say no, it's MT2 only.
There is the King R8 model in Can. you could consider.
King Variable Speed Bench Mill with Digital Spindle Speed Indicator 1HP 110V 1PH
You can get along just fine with MT2 especially if you use ER collets but the TTS
    is nice for power drawbars.

    Hi Hoss
If I go with BF20L, can I still use your CNC convention kit? Start watching your videos, enjoying it so far :-D
    Do you sell CNCed 0704?

The bf20l is a little different and would need the parts tweaked to match.
No I don't sell cnced 0704's or parts, just the guide plans.

I can buy the plan and modify it to match BF20L then. I am pretty good at Solidworks. if just dimention change, I should be able to model up the mill and modify your plan.
That all depends what did you mean by "tweak" :-D

An MT2 can hold pretty large tools if you use a collet chuck in it. I have seen them upto ER40. I think that will go upto atleast 1". I have an ER25 one for my noname mill drill and it goes up to 5/8". I like the collet chucks because its so much faster and easier to swap cutters than a direct insert collet. You do have to account for any additional runout though.
