Hey foam how much it cost you to build a router like that? I was looking to one of these but then I got scared because of the aluminum that I need to machine. Did you buy a stock router and then modify it?

I got lucky on that router build, lets just say " built on a song and a whim"..lol..

stock router, no mods...Hitachi M12VC is a very stout router, with variable speed and torque compensation built in, and most importantly very well balanced, with reasonable runout.......for a router. I am often amazed the accuracy of the measured parts that come out of it.

Even though I built it cheap, it was A LOT of work.

Here is how small that part was...

What about the table? Did you buy it or build it?

#1 rule of thumb, dont sell tools! You will need them in 2 weeks!
We still haven't seen an explanation as to why he has to sell either one or the other. The lack of detail here makes methink their is aback story involving a wife and a parking space. In that case it would make more sense to trade the wife in instead of selling either machine. 😂😝😳

That being said I'd look for a way to keep both machines. It would make more sense to get rid of a drill press or other single purpose machine instead.

Gee turned to page two and found out I was right.

I'd lay down the law and explain to the woman who the man of the house is. It isn't like the machine is in the kitchen or laundry room.

Guess the truth of the matter is to keep both, as Fixittt stated.

I know, I asked you guys which ONE.

Let's see what the wife says about this, if you don't here from me again, you will know what happened...lol.

I could not have cut this today, in my router, not enough Z clearance.
That is the big problem with routers, they aren't usually general purpose enough to rely upon. Running any sort of shop you will find that some work requires the capability of a mill.

    Wizard,

Lol, it was a joke about the wife, she could care less...for me, it's just a matter of making some money in this "hobby" of mine. In general, I make CNC machines to sell, but of course I need them to sell them.

I suppose if you are in business you don't want too much capital laying around doing nothing. On the other hand having both machines in your shop might make your work a lot easiers.
