    Mach3 spindle control on X1

    Hey

Can you give me a little guidance as to what is required to set up Mach3 to control my spindle on my little X1 mill?

I have search and think I need to set up some kind of (optical) sensor on my spindle or motor or something spinny in the gearbox, and I think I need something to convert steps and direction into a 0-10v analogue output. I guess I need something to control relays for on/off and direction.

The problem for me, is I don't know anything more specific than that.

    I found these on CNC4PC.com:

C41 - PWM Variable Speed Control Board
    CNC4PC

    C3 - Index Pulse Card
    CNC4PC

Would I be able to connect the 0-10v from the C41 directly to the speed control pot in my X1?
Do I need the C3 (or similar) to feed back the spindle speed, or will Mach3 operate without it?
