    Stupid electronics question

Okay... Gonna pull the trigger on a G0704 this week.

Can I "overbuild" the control to where if I decide that the small mill ain't gonna cut it that I can just bolt on the larger motors for a larger mill? I don't mind spending money on overkill. I hate wasting money on missing the target.

Right now I'm probably going to do Hoss' "High end digital" or whatever he calls it recipe, just follow his plans, get the ball screws from the guy in St. Louis, and go from there...

    Yes you can.
I built my original X2 mill in 2005 with Gecko G201 drives and NEMA 34 450oz.in motors. The exact set up was transferred to my BF30 mill which is probably 5 times the weight and the system works flawlessly. Whether that's the right way to do it is a matter of opinion. If you wished to upgrade to a larger mill, you might find it easier and more profitable to sell the smaller machine as a turn-key CNC solution and start again on the big mill. I guess it depends on your circumstances.

to answer your question YES look at Hoss site g0704.com its all in there

but don't worry IMMHO I think for what the machine is... they used an appropriate sized motor mine works very well easy to hog 1" DOC on aluminum etc..
