If you look below at the image attched, this is the sort of thing Ill be making
which will need milling on all sides in some way.
Ive just been playing around tonight with cambam and meshcam
As Rikk said if your looking for 3d machining don't go for Cambam, and this is not a dig at Cambam users as I think it's a very good software but you may not require full 3D now but as you get more acquainted with the whole CNC thingy you will want to exercise and stretch the machine to it's full capabilities and full 3D will be needed then because if you can draw it you can machine it and the satisfaction of creating a complex part that you drafted is exhilarating, and so my motto with this whole new adventure is will I need it in the future yes or no, and then can I afford it….???
And regarding engraving Mach has a pretty good Text Engraving wizard that I’ve used a good few times with excellent results….

That's fine to do in cambam as it's 2.5d took me a while to work out what the difference was between 3d and 2.5d
You can do some 3d work in cambam and it's being constantly developed so can only get better, have a read of the CB forums everyone on there is really helpful, I've asked plenty of dumby/newbie questions and always been answered
I tend to find my level of nervousness goes up depending on the amount of sides having to be machining as you opportunity to cock it up increases with every side 8)
Hi Rikk
No acording to billy this is the measurement so im going for this
In my head worst case if there is any binding i could just shim the outer plates out
but sure i wont have to.
Got an email fron linear today who wont ship till the end of the month due to chinese new year.

I'll get my order in then. That's a pain in the backside regarding the holidays but stuff normally comes pretty quick from there so should only be 7-10 days after.
Did you just send them the pdf's billy supplied?
If it's to long, a local machine shop can take a smidge off, I've got one near me I use for the odd bits and bobs I can't do.
Had a look around and this guy in the UK Round Rail kit, Linear Bearings items in cnc4you store on eBay! is using the same ballnuts/screws so they'll fit billys mounts.
I've emailed him the pdf's, I'll let you guys know what he comes back with price/delivery wise. If he's not miles away from the other price I'll give him a try.
Hi Rikk
Thats a nice find mate - a supplier in UK
Ev
en if a bit more expensive - no import duty and faster

Ive not ordered yet and yes i was going to supply billys PDF but with maybe his notes taken off

Will do, hopefully he'll come back to day, billy said his stuff would go off today as well i guess 7-10 days for that. I keep an eye on the tracking info then call the local depot and go and pick it up, save waiting on the letter from parcelforce, not that I'm a small child and can't wait...oh no....never that
I was also going to hunt out what parts I need to get to fit a one shot oiler to the ballscrews (ways are to much messing around for me) as I noticed on the pdf's it has a port to screw in a nipple.
Im on the same mindset on doing a one shop oil system
Thinking of points on all the ways which will be 6 and aiming at the screws
so total 9 points
This site Ive been looking at rikk:
One Shot Lubrication System - Arc Euro Trade
My only thoughts are i would like a varible valve maybe for each point
so i can adjust all points when setup - whats your thoughts
This is the bit ive not suzzed yet in the way of a suppllier for values at a good price?

Yep, that's the stuff I'm looking at. Would love to do the ways as well but drilling them and having the channels milled is to much messing around. But if I had another mill to work on this one I would.
Only takes 2 mins once a week to wipe them down and re-oil with an angled sponge or your finger![]()
I was thinking of making a jig and a router, I have a small carbide bit
Ill have to see, but i believe when its done the machine is silky smooth as youd expect.
