    Milling Smooth Bottomed Hole?

Does anyone know a good technique for milling a hole with an exceptionally smooth, square bottom about .5" deep? The finish on the sides of the hole don't really matter.

I've just used a G02 to mill pockets for bearings & such. Make sure you are using a center cutting endmill. Helps if you can ramp into your cut.

An Iscar Helimill does a really fine job of finishing a blind hole, with a light depth of cut. Your machine and work has to be really solid, of course.
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)
