Well i started out thinking, i will not convert my BF20 mill.. its okay as it is.. But.. Well. After looking around here, and on the swedish forum for cnc machines i decided.. i'm gonna try it..

So the shopping list as follows:
1x BF20 Vario from tops-maschinen.de
1x 425oz 3 axis stepper kit from ebay, shipped from hongkong
1x set of mills, parallells, toolholders, clamps and other stuff i would need i guess
2x sets of angle bearings for the X / Y from vxb.com
1x set of large angle bearings for the Z from vxb.com
1m of 120x20mm aluminium plate (ballscrew plates)
1m of 15mm aluminium rod (motor mounts)
500mm of 30mm aluminium rod. (for making oldham couplings)
1x set of ballscews from cncdrive in hungaria. (still waiting for these).

So.. most of my parts has arrived.. And i carried the 115kg machine down into my basement and soon realised i was covered in some fatty goo.. what the .. "¤#%#".. After inspecting it more closely.. it was covered in it.. I guess some guy have been standing around and pooring the stuff onto it..

So step 1.. cleaning... Alot of cleaning.. Break cleaning products is really awsome.. but it gets a bit to clean so i wiped the whole machine down with straight 50W oil

I have bought all i think i need, still looking for a good 4" vise and a turntable (is it called that?) so i'm aiming for a 3 weekend build as soon as my ballscews has arrived.
Photos will come up later when i'm more into the build i guess.

But for now i got a question.. on the controlpanel on this machine i find under it a 4 pole coupling, the manuals saids CNC spindle control.. and i'm starting to think.. Is this a way to bypass the knob on the panel, or is it somthing more to it.. I have considered using one of those steps to voltage converter thingys i have seen on cnc4all, but it would be super if i didnt have to break open the control box and could just hook it into this connector..

Any thoughts? anyone seen this on their BF20 mills?!

What is my goals with this build.. Well, i build race engines for friends as a hobby.. and one of the problems i have is modyfying carburators and EFI systems.. So well.. I will probaby convert this to be able to mill out carb houses after my own ideas. =)
