| Good luck with the internal intermediate plastic gear holding up. That was one of the purposes for my belt drive, eliminating that time bomb. My stock radials have been fine to over 7000 rpm but my mill has been comfortable in a 70 degree bedroom not tortured running in subfreezing temps below recommended specs. Hoss

| Well as long as the mill is still somewhat disassembled, thought I might as well kill 4 birds with one stone before I put it back together. I'll be extending the Y travel to 9.25 - 9.5 inches. The X already has enough travel and any extending would just be a flimsy waste of time. I'll be mounting the Y motor in the rear. I'll be adding a 5th axis to the head and gaining a couple more inches Z travel. Oh yeah, then finishing the oiling system. The fun with the lathe/4th axis will have to wait. Details will follow when they are done. Time to put the ZX45 to work. ![]() Hoss

Maybe I should move it into my living room. The X2 has similar bearings and I have used it for many years in the same environment. |

| Maybe you should, similar isn't the same. Hoss

| Is there some particular reason you posted that video here in the first place instead of your thread? If you don't like my suggestions, don't post here. Hoss

| Don't get touchy. I was just showing an alternate setup - I see this as the most all encompassing thread. And it wasn't that I don't think your suggestion is good, it just isn't an option for me. Back to 'your' thread Hoss. |

| Waste not want not, the old Z axis belt drive parts will find a new home on the rear mounted Y axis. Will be easier to fit in the enclosure. Hoss
