Inner our outer threads? And do you have a lathe? If so you can fix it with a Helicoil. You just chuck the screw up in the lathe, drill it out, tap it so a size bigger and place the Helicoil in to reduce it back down to the size it originally was. We own sprint cars and for is it is always a heart breaker when you strip threads out of a $40,000 aluminum engine block, this is how we fix it.

I would take it apart and have a look closely at the ballnut looking for any part numbers or manufacturers markings, if there are none I would contact the manufacturer of the mill directly and see if they can either get you another one or give you a source to get one for yourself. I am also gonna assume you broke the threaded end off the ballnut itself which would not be easy to do but it has been done before and you are not talking about the mount getting the threads ripped out and the ballnut is still intact.. If you could give some more information it might be easier to help you as it may be repairable if the nut itself is not broken. Most ballnuts if not all are VERY hard material so retapping is just not gonna happen. If after all this fails and you cannot get one you could always get some other screw that has a similar ballnut and thread and have it machined to fit your machines movements.... Is it a square or round profile ballnut? Again some more info could help here... peace

hi- thanks for the responses. i ripped off the outter threads on the ball nut. where nut goes into the plate that slides. i have used helicoils myself. they are great, but not for this application, wish it was that simple. i know that i can buy this part from the machine vendor, but frankly, is way overpriced there. anyone know of a good aftermarket supplier for max nc parts ?? thanks, cary
