| hi i have a harbor freight micro mill model47158 dose any one know the type size of the lead screw and lifting screw? for the y and z axis i also have dails each hash mark=.001 inch is there a way to calculate the number of steps per unit to get 1 inch of travel in the x or y axis thanks for any help |

You can calculate exact no of steps for a specific distance by using the utility in MACH3. it will also depend whether you are running quarter step, eight step or other resolution. I have MicroMill with all three axis cnc, and they are not the same number for z as the x and y, You will also have to run them at different speeds, the z being at about 12 IPM and x and y at something in neighborhood of 18-24 IPM depending on your conversion setup. I am using an extended table, but the steps for the screws should be the same, if You do not have Mach3, you can still download it in demo mode and run the same part of the program to calculate steps.
