    Motor mount plans?

    Hi all,

Does anyone have/know where I can get plans or good pics of the mounting of a NEMA 23 stepper to a mini mill? Thanks in advance!

It's kind of difficult to recommend a mount when some specs are missing. Do you plan direct drive or belt drive? Bracket-to-machine mounting holes existance? Length and diameter of drive screw protrusion? Mill size, motor size, etc??? Any photos of your machine?

I'm positive that quite a number of members here are willing to help but it's hard to without some specs to go by.

the other part thats almost impossible to know is the tolerance on any of the mounts. most of these machines are not made with good tolerances so even if someone had plans they probably wouldn't work on your machine.

How do you deal with the bad tolerances on thease particular machines I have the hf 44991 and wanted to go direct drive. I havent picked motors yet as it seems tolerance is going to be an issue. I want to mill intricate jewelery wax patterns. What would be a good move.Thank you .

    Wilfreeman,

Look at this website. KDN sells complete kits and components for conversions.

Thanks for all of the replys, guys! I've been away for awhile now - just got a brand spanking new youngin to take care of now - CNC is kind of on the back burner now. Anybody tried the CNC Fusion kits - it looks pretty good, and cheap too - even with the ballscrews! I've already got the motors/controller/PS - no software. I made an X axis mount, but couldn't figure out a good, compact, easy solution for the Y axis. I wasn't going to try to fab a Z axis - I was going to buy it anyway.
