How should I mount my pulleys

I know this is very ignorant but I need to ask some one who knows.Im in the process of building my belt kit for my X1. I got confused on how I should mount them.
I was originally going to mount them like in pic 1 but i figured I might as well make sure.

Your top picture looks correct. The bottom picture looks like all three pulleys will give a 1:1 ration and therefore no speed differences!

Thats what I thought also but I think some fudged up stuff sometimes. Thanks for the help now I can mock them up and order my belt.

There not the same though in pic2 the one on the left all the whole pulley is bigger all 3 steps not by much but they are.
