    Serious Sherline/ EMC2 problem: Inverted axis

    Hi, I recently purchased and assembled a Sherline Mill. I'm using EMC2 and have run through all the basic setup procedures from the manual.

    I ran the test Gcode (the one that says EMC2 AXIS) and found that both the Y and Z axis are inverted. When the Z axis should go up, it goes down, and when the Y axis should go back it goes forward. I've searched this forum and a few others already but it seems like I've done some uniquely dumb thing and have found no answers.

    I can provide more information if necessary. Thanks

    Two solutions.

    1. If the motors are 4 wire bipolar, switch the A and B pair of the axis that are running in reverse.

    2. I am not familiar with that control software, but I am sure there is a setting in the motor setup for "direction" if you have it "high" or "1" then make it "low" or "0" for the axis with the problem. or if it is low or 0 then make it high or 1.

    HTH,

    Jeff

    I found the manual on emc2, look here http://www.linuxcnc.org/docs/EMC2_Getting_Started.pdf

    find the section called parallel port setup, there is a box for each axis that says invert, click on this box on the axis you are having problems with.

    That should do the trick.

    Open your *.ini file with a text editor. In the "AXES" section, look for the line, SCALE= . Change the sign of the number for each of the axes for which you wish to change direction. The x axis is usually axis 0, the y is axis 1, and the z is axis 2. Save the file and restart EMC2.

    In my system, for example, axis 1 and axis 2 include the line

    SCALE= -1600
