    Default DRO-350 Scale Jitter

    I just finally got the second axis of my DRO-350 operational tonight. The only thing is the display jitters badly. I read through the operator's manual but couldn't find a solution. I tried to adjust the Filter Threshold, but my DRO won't allow me to imput a numerical value. I can only choose from: ST, Lo, Hi, and No. Please help! I'm so close to getting this all together and I'm sure there is someone out there that can help me figure this out. Thanks in advance!

    i know it dont help but this is what i read on the shumateck website. sounds like there is no fix?

    The DRO-350 is an old design that uses obsolete parts. The DRO-350 has a number of problems including scale jitter, rounding errors, and axes that won't display. These problems will not be fixed and all future development activity will concentrate on the DPU-550 and DRO-550.

    Yeah, I've been to the website. I read that. I know there are work arounds, and a lot of programming options in the DRO-350 as well. I'm looking for advice from someone that has had this issue and figured out a way around it.

    I always had a bad jitter on the y of mine back then and no amount of
    adjusting got rid of it so I lived with it.
    Last year I dug it out of a box to put it on my rf45. plugged everything
    together and noticed the jitter
    was still there but on the x instead. then it dawned on me, the cable might
    be bad.
    sure enough, swapping cables put the jitter on whatever scale the bad cable
    was plugged into,
    got a new cable and all 3 are rock solid now. try it and also check your
    solder connections on the
    cable ports.

    I never thought to swap cables. Man that would be an easy fix. I'll check that right now and see if the jitter follows that cable. Thanks for the help. I'll let you know how it turns out........

    No change. The jitter didn't follow the cable but stayed with the Y axis scale. Hmmmmm........back to the drawing board.......

    double check all your soldering with a magnifying glass, i was surprised at the number
    of missed or touching joints i had first go around on the board.

    I bought my DRO-350 second hand already assembled. It almost 2am here, so I'll check the soldering tomorrow sometime if I have the chance. Could that be what's making it jitter?

    yeah, one little piece of solder could be causing a short.
