Default Help with Y slide on HF Mini Mill

Hi all, need some help. I have a cnc'd mini mill that I am having trouble with the y axis. When I move it either way, then stop and switch directions, the table first moves in the original direction about .005 before actually moving in the right direction. This happens under stepper control or manual.

I cnc'd it using fignoggle plans, which are very good by the way, but I am at a loss on how to fix this.

    Any help would be great!!

    Thanks
    Walt

What kind of program are you running? What drivers are you using?

I have heard about this problem before, but I can't remember how to solve it or where I saw it.

More info on your machine would be nice.

It is a Xylotex controller, and mach 3, but it does it manually too, not just under computer control.
