also make sure that the cable you got is a straight thru cable. Pin 1 on one side should go to pin 1 on the other and the same for all other pins. I had this problem my first attempt hooking up a G540. Motors would lock, but no movement.

on that topic, are your motors locking up?

I think you should get a breakout board, your computer might be putting out 3.3volts. You can find one on ebay with relay output for your spindle and coolant pump.

I have a similar problem with my vinyl cutter. I don't have a Driver serial port, it won't install to my computer

Why would you want a driver serial port? I think the parallel port cards work just fine, usb even better.

Gecko G540 is meant as a direct parallel interface. It's compatible with 3.3V outputs.

I have the USB plug, but when I plug it into my computer, it has an error in the Device manager. It supposed to show a serial port driver in the Device manager under USB's but it won't install the driver properly

maybe because you need to install a USB plug-in on it on mach 3 (supplied by your BOB manufacturer) to make it work I guess?

I don't think your problem is related to the problem of the OP. You should probably start a new thread and detail your issue.

You need to reinstall mach3 and void the parallel port option, then go through the proper plug in
