Default 4"x6" bandsaw base with a 7"x12" bow?

I've heard of people starting out with an x2 then later ordering a bigger base for it, like one from a g0704. Does anyone ever start out with a 4x6 horizontal/vertical bandsaw then order a bigger bow?

Yeah, well I've seen Ford Pintos with big V8 engines too. Doesn't mean it's a good idea....

Nice analogy, thanks Ray! So maybe a 7x12 bow is too big for a 4x6 but how about a 6 1/2x10 grizzly bow? Would that fit like a Maverick motor in a Pinto?

What about the blade drive wheels and blade guides

Yeah, I'll have to buy the drive wheels too. I think for the roller guides I can use the ones from the 4x6 and it's just the front and rear adjust bracket I need. If Grizzly wants too much for them I can make them out of a railroad tie plate.

The 7x12" from Harbor Freight weighs over 300 pounds. I'm not going to be able to get that up and down stairs all by myself. It mostly weighs that much because of the coolant tank, coolant pump and trough. I want to live without those things for more portability.
