Thanks to the help and patients of John at Keling and jbarber (Jim) and anyone else who helped, for answering all my questions, I have the KL-1212 on the way. I will post here with details of what I get and the set up, if anyone is interested (and probably ask some more questions) Should be here tomorrow 02/10/2010. Now just to figure out what to make with it first. |

Not necessarily for your first project, but a suggestion might be a dust foot. If you cut any MDF it's almost a must-have. For soft and hardwoods a really-nice-to-have. --jim |

Jim, I got the machine in yesterday, i will post a pic soon. i do have a queston, I loaded your xml and all seems to work well. I have one issue I can not figure out, when I move in negative (ill use X as example) X then back in positive X I get great reseloution over .1 , so I don't see any backlash. But when I jog in positive X by .1 and the +.1, +.1 and so on I start to lose .001 in progretion. I hope that made sense, I was just wondering if there is anything you think I could check. I have played with the motor tuning but havent seen any change. Thanks, Matt |

| Does it happen in just one axis, or in all three? I had a similar issue with the Z axis, turned out to be a bad controller. Assuming it is just one axis, you can swap (for example) the X and Y controllers as a test. Not to insult your intelligence, but make sure the primary power is disconnected first if you try it. Another thing - I ended up having to change the microstepping settings on the controllers from the stock values to something else. That may not be relevant to your situation, especially if the motors and controllers are different. My motors are 640 inch-oz, I'd have to do a little digging to get the controller model. Old age, CRS, that kind of thing... --jim
