Just wondering what settings people are using for the 425oz steppers from keling. Maybe Keling can post some recommended settings. currently i have the steps set up as follows in mach 3 x and y axis: step per: 1600 velocity: 138 accelleration: 42 step pulse: 0 dir pulse: 0 z axis: step per: 3200 velocity:138 accelleration: 42 step pulse: 0 dir pulse:0 my current setup physically: 4 keling 425oz steppers keling 4030 drivers ( current set at 3.0 amps microstepping: 1/4) 2 start leadscrews for z axis (5 turns per inch) 5 start leadscrews for the y and x. (2 turns per inch) running mach 3, with cnc4pc c11 breakoutboard 38v 15a antek power supply 2.6ghz dell computer Everything seems to work fine testing them with no load. but what should i be listening for when i tune the motors? im not sure if its right or not. I want my system to be reliable and perform good. thanks for the input. Last edited by cambosoup99; 06-14-2009 at 05:56 AM. |

| Every machine is different, so you can't really go by someone else's settings. What you want to do is set the accel and velocity as fast as possible, with enough safety margin so you never miss steps. Faster accel at the expense of top velocity is usually the best way to go.

| Measure the distance traveled, and make sure it's accurate. Increase speed and accel until it's not, then back off.
