5 volt positive and negative??

The wiring diagram says + and - but there is no indication on the adapter. Which one is positive and negative? black and black with white stripe??? Does is matter?? I assume it does??

Black with white strip is positive usually. If you have a Meter you could check it.

All I have is an analog meter.

Tell me if I'm wrong here.

Plug the adaptor in. Place one probe inside the end of the plug. Place the other on the sleeve of the plug. The inside or sleeve of the plug, whichever gives me a positive voltage reading with the red probe on it, is the positive.

Is this the correct procedure??
