| Howdy, I recently purchased 3 x 387 oz.in motors from keling (KL23H284-35-4B). However after purchasing I realized my driver board has a max output of 2.5 amps per axis and the motors require 3.5 amps. My question is being that they are 4 wire motors can they be wired for bipolar series instead of standard bipolar wiring? As wiring for bipolar series requires less amps but produces less torque (I think?). Or can I still wire them with a standard bipolar connection? |

| Eight wire Stepper motors have the same torque whether wired in Bipolar Series or Bipolar Parallel. Series motors will stall at much lower RPMs though. The same 8 wire motor wired as Unipolar WILL have about 30% less torque. HOWEVER: These 4 wire 387 motors are internally hard-wired as Bipolar Parallel. If your driver is bipolar and can limit amps to 2.5, then they will work, but with less torque. If your driver is Unipolar, then these motors will NOT work with it. CR. |
