I have the 495oz steppers (KL23H2100-30-4B) and the KL-4030 drivers. What is the correct way to wire these? According to the stepper spec sheet it should be as follows:
A+ = Black
A- = Green
B+ = Red
B- = Blue
Is the above correct? I just want to verify before I hook them up, Thanks.

Thanks. I got everything wired but I think I may have the wrong cable that goes from the breakout board to my parallel port. What is the correct cable? The one I have now came with PCAnywhere program to connect two computers via parallel ports but doesn't seem to be working.
If you are diligent, you can test the cable for ohms from one end to the other. There are at least two types and one is wrong, which I believe you may have. All the pins from one end to the other should just be a straight pass through connection. I think they are in different order or something on your cable. These cables are becoming hard to find off the shelf anywhere as well. I bought a couple from Tiger Direct, but you can get them through other online places too.
Radio Shack, Office Depot and the local computer place didn't have the regular type on hand, but could order it for me.

OK I dug up another cable and it appears to be working. I only have my X-axis motor connected as described above and I am using Mach3 but when I jog the motor it only rotates in one direction. I have looked at the wiring and it appears to be correct. Are there any settings in Mach3 that I should look at? I'll get my meter out later tonight and make sure its a true straight thru cable also.
OK I have verified that it is in fact a straight thru cable.. 1-1, 2-2, 3-3,..... all 25 pins.
I have double checked everything and my wiring appears to be correct according to the Keling specs. When I move the x axis via Mach3 it always turns clockwise no matter what commands I give it. I have 2&3 going to the driver. My second motor which is supposed to be the Y axis operates under the Z commands and only turns counter clockwise. I have 4&5 going to it. I can not make my third motor turn at all. It has 6&7 going to it.
Should I have to change any of the jumpers on the breakout board or are they set correctly when shipped?

I'm albout the same place as you are right now, just got my kelling package with the four wire stepper motors last week. I got my first motor up and running last night. I had the same problem with motor only turning 1 direction. There are two setting for Mach 3 for each motor, steps and direction. (the two wires from the breakout board to the controller) You have to configure the pins to use off the parallel port for each one. Pin 2 steps, pin 3 direction. There is a unused com. pin in between. This solved my problem. I changed from factory kelling setting to 1 from horizantal line stepping. I hope this helps with the motor spinning in both directions.

I experienced the same problem with the motors not changing direction. The ground wire was not in the terminal in the driver properly for the direction terminal. The wire was sitting below the terminal so when i tightened the screw it didn't grab it, but for some reason when i tugged on it, it stayed in, and i missed it the first time i checked my wiring.
It had me confused for a while, i still dont know why the motor even moved in the first place, but maybe you have a similar problem.
As for the y and z problems, it sounds like an issue with pin assignment in mach3 like bluerobotkid said. When I connected everything i had my step and direction pins reversed (ie step was dir and dir was step) and nothing moved at all.I'm still new at this, but this is what I have learned so far, hope it helps.
