hi, last saturday I have sent you an Email about the CNC 3 Axis Package with 495 oz-in motor and KL-4030 Driver and I haven't receive any answer yet, I don't know if this forum is the only way to reach you. Anyway I am posting my question here, hoping to get an answer:

the kl4030 should not be run at more than 34-26ish volts. if yuou keep your power supply below that, and use set the amperage correct on your drives for your motors, you should be ok.

the PSU that comes with the kelling kit can make a machine move just fine, but it sounds like what you have proposed is much more appropriate.

the biggest impact upgrade i can see for my machine will be a PS. i have keling4030s and the 24v PSU they provide with their 425oz/in kit.

Hi, thanks for the info, haven't made up my mind yet on the 305 package from Hobby CNC and the the 495 from Kelinginc with the drive 4030, I don't see the PC10 selling alone. About the voltage can it be adjusted on the 4030 drive

I've got the same 495 keling 4 axis kit set up on my machine. Several others including vacpress and watson studios have the kit and use the power supply and that seemed like the weak link. As the keling specs for the 4030 drivers state that they are rated at 40v. I bought a power supply kit from hubbard cnc on ebay, great supplier and the ps puts out ~38v and has worked flawlessly. I haven't taken the keling power supply out of the box and I will probably sell it, the kit seems like the best price so get it and buy or build the upgraded ps and you wont regret it.

bobbinette- i just looked at your transformer spec.. i would recommend a 36v transformer, or even 40ish... 38 would be ideal..

the risk of destroying the drives goes up.


my machine can move a 1.5tpi ballscrewwith 5:1 reduction at 120ipm

Not so bad. i lookforward to a new PSU eventually adding upto 20% more speed with similar torque.

my speeds are actually higher with lower amperages set on the drives.. less back emf causing lost steps at high speed, or so i am guessing. i am hoping the higher voltage does a better job at higher amperages.

a win win if you get a bigger PSU.. most likely.
