do i need a resistor?

Ok... when i connected the KL-300-36 36V/6.6A power supply i fried my driver board. can this be because i didn't have resistor connected or a breakout board? or posibly an inline fuse? or is there something wrong with my power supply? not sure if the reading should read -35.9. HELP

Looks like you have the meter leads in backwards on the meter, hence the - reading.

ok. now that i feel like a total idiot. let me ask another question. do i need a break out board between the driver board and the power supply? i have already fried one driver board. should i have a fuse in line or a resister. i don't want to kill another driver board.

p.s thanks for the quick responce.

Not exactly sure of the question, there is no break out board between a drive and the power supply.
normally with everything hooked up, motor drive and PS, without a signal hooked up, you should not fry anything.

when i have 1 motor connected to the driver board and the driver board to the power supply i get a reading of 35.9 volts from my now correctly connected volt ohm meter. i have an 8 wire motor that i belive is correctly connected. the first time i connected the motor to the driver board and powered it up i smoked the driver board. i will take a picture of the setup and post it.

I've never used Keling drives but I friend a gecko (yummy, fried geckos) by having the phases of the motor shorted. That day I learned a valuable lesson, a FUSE between the power supply and the drive is a must.

....or get drivers with built in protection. I have 3 G201's. i actually heard all three motor's energize. i was so happy. i'm still going to install an inline fuse between the drivers and the power supply anyway.

Talking Bright idea?

Hardest thing is finding 32 volt light globes these days. One used on farms with battery power.
Any way, you could use 2 x 24v lamps rated at about 20 or 30 watts (both must be the same wattage, else the small one will blow) and put them in series with each other and the supply output. Then you might fry the globes instead of the electronics. At least you will be able to 'see' the current.
Don't be surprised if they light. You may need higher wattage.
Treading carefully....
