I'm a newb so i need a little help. I bought the Keling 425oz/in motors (nema23) for my first retrofit- its an X1 micro. Anyway - while mounting them I turned the shafts by hand just noting the 'notched' or stepped movement of these motors. One wouldn't move and I had to use pliers on the shaft and it broke loose and started turning but still seemed much harder to turn than the others. Not to be slowed in my excitement to put my machine together I put it on and it worked but doesn't hit the same speeds as the others. If I remove the motors how do I figure out top speeds or torque so I can give the manufacturer specific info for an RMA? Last edited by Quasi; 10-27-2006 at 02:29 PM. Also - just kind of a side - My Z axis requires 6780 (not 6800 or 6700)steps per inch where the other 2 axis require 8000. This doesn't make much sense to me. I'm using a half step on 1.8° motors and the original 20 tpi lead screws that came with it - so should every axis be 8000 steps/in? It runs the quietest of the 3 axis and is very smooth. And I've run it up and down several times while measuring so its not just missing steps because more torque is required to pull it up and it would miss more steps that way. And 6800 actually does move it too far so I'm kinda stumped - but it works and all my peices come out right (with 6780)- just wondering if maybe there are 'dead' steps or if this possible. |

| Ok - I see now the thread on Z is not the same acme 20tpi. Thought all 3 axis were the same thread. Someone explained a lever to attach to the motor and to use weights and measure it against what the other motors are capable of. I guess this will work. I'll post my results here. If this won't work or there is a simpler way it.... any info would be appreciated. |
