Paul,
Have you thoroughly cleaned and re oiled the way's and lead screws lately?
Jeff...
Okay,
Have not used my X3 with CNCFusion and Keling Steppers and Drivers for about 4 months.
I lubed everything, Homed the System and zeroed the X and Y and referenced the Z with Big-Tex.....just as I normally do.
Loaded my g-code file, hit Cycle Start and the system went to the tool change position, hit Cycle Start again and all the axis start moving the tool bit towards the workpiece.
Problem is that the Y-axis sounds funny. Sounds like the stepper is not moving properly. Stopped it and checked the Y-Zero and sure enough it is off by 1/2 inch.
Loosed up the y-axis jib screws and it still does the same thing.
I reset the system and set the slow jog to 10 on the Mach3 Tab flyout....moved the table back and forth on the y-axis and in 4 passes the y-axis is off by 1/8 of an inch. X and Z are correct.
Tried one of my old working files and the y-axis does the same thing after the tool change....it loose position.
Without swapping the KL6050 drivers, has anyone seen this problem?
Thanks,
Paul

Jeff,
Yes, that is the first thing I did.
The ballscrews look like the day I first installed them. The ways and jibs are clean and oiled.

Paul,
How is the lead screw alignment, have you tried turning it by hand to see if there is binding anywhere along its travel?

Jeff,
I can easily move the y-axis by rotating the coupler.
When the y-axis was running sounding funny...I even loosened the y-axis jib screws and it made no difference at all.
Fast jogging the y-axis it moves just fine.

Paul,
Swapping the driver with either the X or Z would help isolate the problem, ten minutes rearranging the wires might give a bit more insight.

Jeff,
Well I swapped the drivers and the problem follows the driver. Guess these drivers can partially fail.
