Trying to determine best stepper/driver combo

    Hello everyone,
In trying to determine the best steppers/driver setup I have run into some confusion involving why the kits offered by Kelling seem to be lacking in voltage. My current machine uses KL23H286-8B steppers (bi-polar parallel), 4030 drivers (@ 1/2 step) and 36V pwr supply, which is sold as a 3-axis kit. When ran above 480 rpm (40 ipm) I lose steps. I believe this is because these motors could be run at 83v, but I'm at 36.
I am now building a much larger, heavier machine and want to make sure I get the results I'm looking for (100+ ipm). The gantry weight is 100 lbs and is driven by a 1" x 5tpi acme lead screw with a steel nut, yet turns easily with a little finger pressure. Best guess is 40 oz-in is more than enough to turn the screw, based on jerry-rigged tests, (similar to my current machine's values).
I would appreciate any recommendations on motor/driver combinations for the new build, and also on increasing the performance of the current machine.
    Thanks in advance to everybody!
    Pat

Thanks for the fast reply. I have considered going to the 34's, but if I were to stay with the motors mentioned previously (KL23H286-8B) would I see significant gains if I were to upgrade to KL-9082 drivers and KL-6515 Power Supply (@80v). Would there be significant disadvantages to this? Just trying to weigh my options...
    Thanks,
    Pat
