| The units looks amazing, very beefy and well made. The only problem is the 2 set screws that couple the servo shaft with the gear box are NOT tapped through all the way!!! Leaving the gearbox useless until the threads are tapped through all the way. Anyone else run into this problem? I bought 2 of them and they both wont thread. They thread till they are barely flush with the inside cylinder but wont penetrate into the inside of the cylinder and apply pressure on the servo output shaft... I basically just need to run a tap through there and finish the job. TO do this i will have to take the back of the casing off because the tap wont be long enough.. Will it all fall apart? |

Here are some before and after pictures. Had to use a M6x1.0 die to clean up the threads on the knurled threads. Then used a M6x1.0 Tap on the holes to finish the job. Now the problem is my huge servos don't have 2 flat 90 degree faces. I bought these servos from keling, there the largest he offers. They have a single keyway. I will have to use a die grinder to grind the 2 flat surfaces. the amount of TQ and power the servos deliver, they would spin the set screws without proper flat surfaces. |

| Well for $550 dollars in gear boxes, and $600 and servos i should not be doing tapping, boring, upgrading setscrews, and flatting shafts. On there website: "It will work with our NEMA 34 motors" Oh sure it will work (correctly) after some minor upgrades. The stock setscrews, you can't apply any pressure to without stripping the flat pot metal heads.I took them back out an cut down metric socket caps so i could really crank them down and use loctite. To put them in though since the heads were bigger you have to bore the access holes larger to fit them through. Then double flatten the shafts. You drop $1100 dollars and let me know how you feel. Quick fix, but annoying. Just thought i'd help anyone else out in the same boat. |
