    KL-DB25 BoB and Gecko G251 5v help

Hoping someone can help me here.

I have many 5v wall power supplies, I plan to use one for the 5v needed on the Keling BoB but eveyone of the 5v power supplies I check the output voltage on runs 5.5ish volts.

Can I still use one of the wall adaptors for my BoB and will the .5 extra volts hurt anything more over hurt my G251's?

Also is there a amp min for the 5v?

    Thanks for any help.

    Thumbs up

    Dbtoutfit,

1 amp should be more than sufficient.

5.5 volts wont hurt anything, make sure it is D.C.

    Thank you,

    I was starting to worry.
K will I guess its time to hook the 5v to it, close my eyes and hit the power button.

    Nerves are on edge.

    Well got everything hooked up.

Measured 5 times cut once so to speak.

    Turned everything on, no dice.

Motors sounded to lock up but no movement, all output pins are correct.
is the 251 suppose to have a red light come on when powered?
I don't have any low active step or directions checked in Mach 3 on the output pins 2-7.

My DB25 BoB is not the new version with the jumper pins.
The manual on their site is for the new BoB.
Do I need to run power to the other Gnd and VCC terminal?

Also when i first hooked the parallel cable in the BoB, it had a green light that came on, now it only comes on if the 5v supply is on.

    Someone help please.
    Very worried

    I got it.

Had to turn on active low and change Estop from 1 to 0.
I also turned off pins 14 and 16 that I was using for the xylotex board.

I had no idea what I was paying a little more for but took everyone's word on getting some gecko drives.

Let me say that NOW Im in the know!
    My feedrate is blistering!
Before I switched out boards I had the xylotex setup in mach for the fastest feedrates I could get. Just real quick (without step tuning) I clocked over 700IPM!

Time to get some chips flying!

After step inch setup, I'm getting well over 400IPM rapids.
I didn’t go that high cause I could care less to run them over that speed. Settled with 320ipm.

One thing to note and before I say this I need to point out the PSU has been making a slight buzzing sound for some time now (year or so it started).
The PSU I got with my first Zylotex board (4 years ago) took a dump on me today. After doing a few things I turned the system on and everything came up and then all the red lights went out on the 251 geckos, I about **** my pants fearing the worse but after checking the output voltage on the PSU I only had 4volts.

Luckily I had a backup PSU hooked it up and everything fired back up fine.

Which brings me to a question.
What amp PSU would you guys say is typical for 3 269oz steppers 2.8A Phase with the G251's?
