Use the peak current.
Temperature can vary greatly, depending on a variety of factors.
Range can be from slightly warm, to too hot to hold onto. At 36V, I'd just expect warm.

I bought three KL23H286-20-8B motors, they are connected to SainSmart ST-M5045 (2M542) drivers and a 36V 11A power supply.
I need help to configure the amperes of the driver, the motor says 2.8A current in parallel bipolar configuration, the driver has two data to configure the amperage one is "peak current" and the other "reference current". Do I have to match the "peak current" or "reference current" configuration to the 2.8A of the motor?
What is the normal working temperature of these motors? for example, after working 2 continuous hours, what would be the normal working temperature?
Please help...

I assume they mean continuous torque (current) for 'reference current' as opposed to Peak (torque) current that should only be experienced briefly without destroying the motor.
